2011 Toronto Microfinance Conference & Gala - moving out of poverty ...the micro way Woman borrowing funds for her business

I met a woman who borrowed $4. She had never seen $4 in her life. She bought a comb, a pair of scissors and a mirror and she put her husband in business as a barber. Now she has a home and her children are in school. All because of $4.

Invitation to Participate as a Conference Presenter – Call for Papers

The Toronto International Microfinance Summit (TIMS) (formerly known as the Toronto Microfinance Conference) has evolved into the premier annual microfinance event in Canada.  Our 2009 and 2010 conferences have made a significant contribution to the awareness and understanding of microfinance.  At our 2010 conference, over 25 domestic and international organizations presented to more than 400 attendees.

What is Planned for 2011?

The 2011 Toronto conference will be a major event for Canada.  The conference is scheduled for September 17, 2011 and will be held at the Allstream Centre.  As in 2010, TIMS will also organize a fund-raising gala that will be held on September 16, 2011.

How to Participate as a Conference Presenter?

As a champion of microfinance or related field we are extending an invitation to you and your organization to join us in our 2011 program. The theme for this year’s program is:

From Microcredit to Financial Inclusion:  Making a Difference in Our World

Our program is flexible and allows for panel discussions, hands-on workshops, networking sessions or formal presentations.  We are not limiting presenter participation to any specific area and welcome a diversity of topics and/or content directly or indirectly related to microfinance.   Due to the diverse needs of conference attendees we encourage all levels of presentation; from high-level information sessions to detailed workshops for attendees interested in more technical topics. For more information about TIMS and the 2010 program you can access our website: www.microfinanceconference.ca .

Who Attends the Conference?

For 2011 we expect over 500 conference attendees from diverse backgrounds including development professionals, senior officials of NGOs, foundations, young professionals, students, academics, donors, post-graduate students, interns-volunteers in international development, as well as business leaders and media from both Canada and the US.  Our conference program will be designed to address the needs of both conference attendees and presenters.
